Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Come One Come All!
It’s that time of year again for thinking about two things!
First we have WeaverCon of course, the other being the Awards. As most of you know we do have a WeaverCon discussion group about when and where. This year John Pepper has graciously offered to be the host and the plan is to descend on him this summer in the Chicago area of Illinois. The date hasn’t been set as of yet, so for those who are interested in attending this year, whether you live in the area or not, hop on over to the WeaverCon group and join in the planning. http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/WeaverCon The final date will be set by March 31, 2005.So far we have the dates that are not available for various reasons and will be planning around that. Because it’s getting late, the date will have to be set soon as possible so people traveling in from out of state have time to make arrangements If you have an inkling to join us then please add your input ASAP at the WeaverCon Group. All writers, active or inactive are welcome. Come join the fun!
June 10 to 17
June 24 to July 4
July 17 to 23
July 23 to 30
The Sci-Fi Cons are as follows, not sure of who attends these so listed them just in case?
July 1-3 Inconjunction
August 18-21 GenCon
We stretched the WeaverCon to a four-day weekend last year (Thurs to Sunday) and it worked out great so I imagine that will be the plan for this year. With everyone arriving on Thursday and departing on Sunday we had two full days for fun and sightseeing which worked out great.
For those of you that haven’t gotten a chance to see last year’s pics of WeaverCon follow the link. We had a great time and everyone loved the Sci-fi Museum where we got to see *Captain Kirk’s command chair* and *Spock’s uniform* and then on to the majestic Mt. Rainier where there be no Tribble At All!
http://dragonlands.worldweavers.net/WeaverCon/WeaverConVII.htmlNow on the Awards! It’s time once again to nominate your favorite posts. Don’t wait until the last moment! Unfortunately, we have found that what happens is that people wait until the last minute and then really great posts that were written at the first of the ‘writing’ year get overlooked, which is really kind of sad. We have an awesome group that put out some great writing that deserve to be acknowledged. So please take the time to honor your fellow writer. Here is a refresher of our 2004 winners ……

It’s been a while since I’ve done an in-depth newsletter and I’m sure there’s been a lot of things happening out there in WeaversLand. Some good, some bad, people have moved, vacationed, pulled their hair out, you know the usual stuff. Miss Katie got a cool promotion, Rob B. went south for a bit then back north and has been swallowed by the far north maybe? We’re not actually sure yet! Arle and family took a cool cruise and Josh got the awesome chance to spend time in Israel. But for the most part it’s been pretty quiet except for maybe the Murray household. Carys and Eddie are now proud grandparents to a new little miss, Kiera Lynn whom Eddie tells me has a great pair of lungs. :D I gotta see pictures and she’s absolutely adorable and quite the cuddly cutie! Also, I got to be a Gramma again to a new little mister, Gabriel Wyatt. Pretty handsome little fella too I might add. Most definitely, future writers in the making!
Well this area, the Pacific Northwest has made the news once again but not because we are liberal idiots either that can’t decide on a governor!
L This time it is in the form of a smoking mountain, several people have asked how we are fairing out here as the Murrays and I live a couple hours apart with the mountain kind of between us. I am including this link to Seismicity, a site that tracks the volcanoes in the Cascade Range where Mt. St. Helens is. They do have a webcam and also a short close up video on the eruption for any that are interested. http://www.ess.washington.edu/SEIS/PNSN/HELENS/COOL STUFF:

DRAGONS: A Fantasy Made Real, a two-hour Animal Planet special, premiering Sunday, March 20, at 8 p.m. ET, imagines dragons as real animals and supposes that all the human myths and legends about dragons recall a time when people really did encounter these fantastic beasts. Using stunning computer-generated imagery from the same graphics company that made creatures for the Discovery Channel's Walking With Dinosaurs, Walking With Prehistoric Beasts and the Harry Potter movies, Dragons offers viewers a look at these creatures from the inside out. The show imagines how dragons would have evolved into a number of different species through the ages and around the globe, and how each dragon species was endowed with physical adaptations and behaviors specialized for its environment. It even features in vivo shots of their internal workings to show how dragons could fly and breathe fire! In our story, dragons mate, parent, protect their territory and struggle to survive human encroachment, just as animals have done throughout history.

Universal Translator: Want to add a little spice to your writing try this page! For a few giggles and grins just paste in the url of your choice, I used the Weavers main page for fun
http://www.worldweavers.net/ then pick the language (I personally am a Redneck fan myself :D) then click on Warp the Web! It really gives a whole new meaning to the ‘written word!" http://www.psyclops.com/translator/*********************
I put in a Search for Contests to see what popped up and found this site, it does appear to have some interesting contest links.
http://tectonicdesigns.com/contest/index.html I am not in anyway recommending any of them though as I have not tried them. It goes without saying to be careful before you jump in on any kind of contest like this, there are honest sites and dishonest sites so really check them out before you send money…….I would definitely check out the following link before you commit yourself to anything like that, it gives some good hints on what to watch out for. http://www.sfwa.org/beware/contests.htmlWEAVER NEWS:

Tree’a Words to Ponder for Lexophiles: (or commonly known as Lovers of Words)
Hows about, "A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion." Oh no wait, that was pretty bad wasn’t it? Let me try again, "The man who fell into an upholstery machine is fully recovered." EEEWWWWW, I think I’m getting worse instead of better! Okay, one more, awww now quit groaning and wrinkling your noses, I can do a good one, I really can! Oh I know, how about one to honor our *Continental* members? "A grenade thrown into a kitchen in France would result in Linoleum Blownapart." Ok-Ok! Stop the eye rolling! I’ll be good and do a nice one I promise. "The Local Area Network in Australia is known as …………… the LAN down under. " hehehehehe. I’m sorry gang I just had too, I couldn’t help myself! :D
Now on to the more serious stuff and our world news, well I can’t honestly say how serious I will be but I’ll give it my best shot………..J
