Bio/Biography: A description of your character's appearance, ability, and background. Used as a reference for others to help in writing the PC.

Biofile: A collection of bios for one particular writing unit.

Crosspost: Two or more posts that contradict each other or are mutually exclusive. For example, one post saying that Thag went to kill a cave-bear after dinner, and another one saying that after dinner, Thag took a nice nap. Crossposts occur for several reasons: 1) The posts were written and sent out simultaneously, 2) Someone did not recieve a post due to mail problems, or 3) One or more writers not paying attention. Crossposts happen from time to time, so don't panic. We're used to them.

Identifier: A short designation used in a post title to identify which unit it belongs to. Unit identifiers currently used in World Weavers are:

  • [CV] Camp Venture
  • [DL-?] Dragonlands, where the ? is the first letter of the Warren to which the post belongs.
  • [USS-?] Starfleet, where ? is the name of the ship.
  • [?-WW] World of Darkness, where the ? is the specific world played in, currently Changeling and Vampire.

GPC: Guest Player Character. A player character that will only be with the unit temporarily; usually a villain.

NPC: Non-player character. Exactly the opposite of a PC, an NPC is any character created by any writer for any purpose. Examples of NPC would be: bartenders, policemen, merchants, or any other incidental character that only appears once or twice in the storyline. NPCs are free for any other writer to use or abuse.

NRPG: Non-Roleplaying-Game. Used to mark discussions that are out of character and do not necessarily further the plot. Also commonly used is "OOC" (Out of Character), the opposite of which is "IC" (In Character).

PC: Player Character. A character created and written by one of the writers in the game. At any time, a writer may have only one PC in any unit. A writer's PC is his or her creation only, and no other writer may maim, kill, marry, injure, or otherwise write any life-changing events for another PC without permission.

PNPC or Secondary Character: Midway between a PC and an NPC, a pNPC, or Protected NPC, is an NPC created by a writer for a special purpose. Usually, pNPCs are friends or loved ones of the PC, but can also be enemies as well. Other writers are free to use the pNPC in their stories, but the same rules apply to their usage as for PCs.

RPG: Role-playing Game. Used to denote in-character discussion in a post.

Thread, Storyline, or Plotline: A sequence of events or subplot going on in a particular unit. Can affect the entire unit, like attacks or missions, or be personal threads like romances.
